TRIUMPH TIGER 800XC TESTED
by Marty Ritchie on July 24, 2011
The Forks on this model Triumph are sprung much too soft for serious
offroad Conditions. If you are offroading this bike or feeling your ride
diving in the front end you will benefit greatly from our 'KROOZRACING'
Fork springs. These springs have been designed here in Australia for
the new triumph tiger 800XC specifically for the new Showa 45mm upside
down forks. We use high quality German spring wire CNC wound to produce
the exact rate we require for this bike. We have tested various weight
riders with many spring rates and have found 6.2kg/mm gives the best
ride available.
As we have already completed our testing, The Springs come with general
setup info including recommended preload / oil hieght, making fitting and a great setup much
easier.

Procon / Krooztune Supported BMW Lead ASBK
by Marty Ritchie on March 06, 2011
Procon Maxima BMW rider Glenn Allerton has extended his Viking Group
Australian Superbike Championship points lead with a dominant race win
at Symmons Plains this afternoon.
Hindered by a brake problem in this morning’s race, the 2008 Australian Superbike Champion bounced back in style in the second 20-lap stoush, winning by a 1.444-second margin over Team Honda Racing’s Wayne Maxwell.
Maxwell took the lead from pole and controlled the race until mid-distance when Allerton pounced, the power of the BMW S 1000 RR only too apparent on the back straight sweeper, the fastest corner in Australian motorsport at over 270km/h.
Today’s result also marks Allerton’s third round win in a row. He won here in November last year before switching manufacturers and dominating last week’s Phillip Island opener.
The Sydneysider said he was determined to make amends for this morning’s race where he felt a win went begging.
“I felt really comfortable on the bike today,” said Allerton. “The problem with the front brake in race 1 cost me a chance to attack and I knew I had to make it up this afternoon.
“We pulled together as a team and got it done, thanks to everyone involved for a huge effort this weekend.
“We’ll look to Darwin now and try a few more things to develop the bike further. There’s more progress to be made and I can’t wait to get to Hidden Valley and try to work on building my championship lead further.”
Allerton leads the championship on 93 points, 23 ahead of Team Suzuki’s Troy Herfoss who finished fifth overall this weekend.
BMW Sign Allerton and Hepburn Motorsport for ASBK Assault
by Marty Ritchie on February 17, 2011
Former Australian Superbike Champion Glenn Allerton will be
competing on the BMW S 1000 RR for the Hepburn Motorsport Team in 2011
Viking Goup Australian Superbike Championship.
Allerton, who won the title in 2008, is hungry to win on the RR after finishing the 2010 season with a win in Tasmania.
The team had their first taste of the, HP Power Kit equipped S 1000 RR
recently at Phillip Island. The bike was in road trim complete with
headlights but with 196hp at the rear wheel Glenn was clearly
impressed.
He was overheard in the pits saying to Hepburn Team owner and Pro-Stock racer Wayne Hepburn,
"We have to race this bike this year! The electronics make the bike so
easyand smooth to handle and the gear shift feels seamless, there has
been some serious development with the traction control system, it's
the best I have ever used".
Krooztune were on hand to begin developing the chassis and suspension settings to get this bike race ready for round one at phillip island on 25th. Krooztune's Dave Kresvan is confident that this bike and setup will be more than capable of winning races and championships .
One week later, the team tested
at the BMW World Superbike Team test at Phillip Island. With only 1 day
to turn the road bike into a race bike the team were under pressure,
but when Glenn set the fastest times (of the local riders) on the first
morning they were ecstatic.
"Today is our first day on the
bike, we only fitted the race glass yesterday afternoon. So far we just
focused on getting Glenn comfortable on the bike, adjusting the seating
position and so on. We couldn't believe how quick he was straight out
of the blocks. With Glenn riding the S 1000 RR we are aiming high for
2011, we will be genuine contenders for race wins and the
championship," Hepburn predicted.
Tony Sesto,BMW
Motorrad Manager commented on the signing saying, "We are very excited
to have Glenn and Hepburn Motorsport competing this year on the S 1000
RR. We are confident the RR is the best bike and Glenn is an incredibly
talented rider, together we are looking forward to an exciting year of
racing."
MOSIG 2ND in Final Round Super x
by Marty Ritchie on December 06, 2010

Cougar Bourbon Honda Thor Racings Kade Mosig has ended the 2010 Super X season on a high, finishing second in the Lites class at Brisbane's rain soaked QSAC Stadium last night.
While many struggled on the extremely boggy track, Mosig revelled in the mud, winning his heat race to take number one gate pick for the three, 5-lap races that made up the Triple Challenge final.
Mosig, who finished the first race seventh, holeshot the second race to lead from start to finish. Third place in the final race secured the Victorian second step on the dais.
"It was great to finally put together a podium result," Mosig said.
"This has been a really tough season, and I am stoked to be able to repay the Cougar Bourbon Honda Thor Racing team with a podium.
"The conditions were absolutely crazy and just to stay upright was an achievement in itself," he concluded.
In the Open class Cougar Bourbon Honda Thor Racings Dan Reardon was joined by Michael Phillips who stood in for the injured Todd Waters.
Reardon finished fifth overall and secured fifth in the championship with three solid race results. The Queenslander finished the three races sixth, fourth and third respectively.
"That was tough," Reardon admitted. "The track was so wet it was nearly impossible to ride.
"I really wanted to finish with a good result tonight but with the conditions the way they were I couldn't push as hard as I would have liked.
"All my effort went into staying upright and finishing each race," Reardon said.
Michael Phillips put his motocross background to good use and finished 13th overall. The New Zealand rider who normally contests the Lites class finished the three Open races 13th, 13th and 14th respectively.
The Cougar Bourbon Honda Thor Racing Team will now enjoy a short a break before they commence testing for the 2011 MX Nationals series in the New Year.
US Supercross star teams up with Cougar Bourbon Honda Racing for Canberra
by Marty Ritchie on October 22, 2010
Cougar Bourbon
Honda Racing will host Kevin Windham, one of the AMA’s most experienced
and celebrated riders, to contest round 2 of Super X, the Australasian
Supercross Championship in the nation’s capital this weekend.
Windham,
from Centreville, Missisippi, joins the lineup with regular riders
Daniel Reardon, Todd Waters and Kade Mosig and will be a formidable
force in the Open class at Canberra aboard a Honda CRF450R.
Since
starting his pro career in 1994, Windham has won 17 AMA Supercross
races, the most recent coming at the end of season 2010.
The 32-year-old has now won at least one AMA Supercross class race in eight different seasons and three different decades.
Jetting
down under for a single round, Windham is looking forward to the unique
Triple challenge format which is significantly different from the
traditional single race contested in US competition.
"I am very excited to be here, this is my first trip to Australia and I have the whole family with me," Windham said.
"It was a long flight and I only arrived yesterday but I am keen to get out and have a look at the track ahead of tomorrow.
"This format is all new to me, but I am pumped and can't wait to get out there," he added.
Cougar
Bourbon Honda Thor Racing owner Yarrive Konsky welcomed Windham on
behalf of the team and looked forward to hosting the AMA legend for the
weekend.
“Kevin is one of the AMA’s most recognised and
respected riders and has a tremendous amount of experience against the
world’s best behind him,” said Konsky.
“The whole team is
excited to have him on board for the round and we’re certain that he’ll
be gunning for a win in the Open class on familiar Honda racecraft.”
The
Victorian-based team opened its Super X account in strong fashion last
weekend, with Reardon and Waters finishing fourth and seventh
respectively in Opens and Mosig fourth also in Lites.
SUPER X Newcastle
by Marty Ritchie on October 19, 2010
A good start to Super X for Krooztune with top 5 finishes in both Pro classes at the season opener at newcastle. Krooztune supported privateers Taylor Potter and Geran Stapleton made a good start to the year in super x , with both riders improving throughout the night.
Krooztune's Marty and Owen were there to lend a hand and keep the bikes well sorted, enabling the riders to focus on racing. Owen even landed a gig helping out Pip Harrison with Chad Reeds graphics on the night. Owen performed well under the pressure and can resume his role as the un-shakable 'iceman'.
Despite
only cementing its rider line-up less than a month ago, the krooztune supported Cougar
Bourbon Honda Thor Racing team have made a solid start to the 2010
Super X season with Dan Reardon, Todd Waters and Kade Mosig all
finishing with top ten results at the opening round in Newcastle last
night.
A minor overnight hiccup which saw the team's
transporter awning fall victim to Newcastle's gusty winds failed to
hamper race day preparations and all three riders progressed through
practice and the qualifying heats to gate well for their respective
finals.
Under the ‘Double Header’ race format, riders contested a pair of 12-lap races to make up the final.
In the Open class Daniel Reardon grabbed the first holeshot and held off fellow Honda mounted rider Chad Reed until half way through the race. Reardon went on to finish the race third with teammate Todd Waters also finishing within the top 10.
Both riders continued to prosper in the second 12-lap final, with solid
points gains positioning them within the top six in the points
standings.
While recording equal points for third place for Daniel Reardon was placed fourth under the countback system.
“It was a good solid start to season,” Reardon acknowledged.
“I suffered a little bit with grip but overall I am really happy with the way the bike worked.
“I have only been back on a Honda for three weeks and I am definitely
starting to feel at home. I am looking forward to a bit more time on
the bike ahead of Canberra,” he added.
Todd Waters
also tied on points, with four riders all sitting on 27 points vying
for sixth. Under the series rules he was awarded seventh.
"That was my best start to a Supercross season,” Waters admitted.
“My starts were strong but I know what I need to work on before the second round.
“I was happy with bike setup but I do need to work on quick line
selection and aggression and I will be working on these before
Canberra,” he said.
In the Lites class in what was his first ride back for the team in two years, Kade Mosig missed the podium by just one point.
The 20 year-old finished his races fifth and fourth respectively to finish the opening round of the season fourth overall.
“I came into tonight wanting to finish top five and went one better, ” Mosig stated.
“That was my best start to a Supercross season so I definitely happy
with my performance but I know I need to work on my aggression in the
first few laps.
“I am looking forward to a solid week of riding,” he added.
Team Principal Yarrive Konsky said the team had achieved its goal of laying a strong foundation for the seven round series.
“I am extremely proud of the effort of all three riders,” Konsky said.
“It was a solid performance considering the team came together with two
new riders just three weeks ago.
“We came in wanting to lay a strong foundation and that is what we achieved.”
The Cougar Bourbon Honda Thor Racing Team will continue their testing program ahead of next weekends event in Canberra.

Jeremy McGrath rides Krooz Tune
by Marty Ritchie on November 30, 2009

‘The King’ of supercross recently returned to Australasia to ride the Canberra and New Zealand rounds of Super X. Running a Woodstock Honda fully kitted with Krooz Tune modified production forks and shock, ‘MC’ proceeded to beat all except Chad Reed. Clearly showing he was not down under on a holiday, MC displayed speed & skill that remains a force to be reckoned with. The supercross fork Jeremy used is kitted with modified internal compression pistons, stiffer fork springs, DLC coated legs, finer compression adjustment with valving to match. The shock runs a higher gas volume, modified standard piston, valving and a spring to match Jeremy’s weight and style. Other changes to the bike kept Honda’s Brad McAlpine swinging off the T-bars like a man possessed. Working with the greatest supercross rider of all time was an invaluable experience for Krooz Tune and a great opportunity continue development on the 09/10 CRF.
Dinsdale Wins Shell Advance QLD MX title
by Marty Ritchie on June 07, 2010
Joel Dinsdale adds another round and series win to his resume in 2010
The Queensland Yamaha Junior Development Team scored a perfect 12 wins from
12 starts at the final round of the Shell Advance Sunshine State Series
Motocross held at Tivoli Raceway, near Brisbane over the weekend.
With the track in its best condition in years and under warm winter skies,
the perfect round score caps another successful series for the power house
team of Joel Dinsdale and Wilson Todd, taking four series wins in the four
classes contested.
Joel Dinsdale (Bullet Bikes) is on a massive roll in 2010. Starting back at
Easter at the opening round of the Queensland Motocross Championship,
Dinsdale has gone on a winning spree taking all before him at every event he
has entered since. He kept that momentum rolling along at Tivoli winning the
12 to 13 years 85cc on Saturday, then dominated the 13 to 14 years Lites on
Sunday making it a perfect weekend for the Mackay flyer.
Dinsdale led both series classes comfortably going into the final round, but
his superb performance over the weekend put the finishing touches on what
has been an outstanding start to 2010.
"I just feel really good on the bike at the moment. For the first time since
I have raced, my starts have been really good and it makes racing so much
easier to be in front and ride my own race."
"2010 has been great so far and my results have been a reflection of the
effort the team, my parents and Bullet Bikes put in. I can't thank everyone
enough," said Dinsdale.
